I saw a thread lately about building layout boats. Just wondering do you guys have to pay for the plans off the internet or what? And also how much does it cost for all the supplies. I am considering trying to build one for next season and would like to put a transom on the back for a trolling motor. Any ideas of what kind of plans to use?

Thanks

Jessee(rustybeaver) sent me plans he found, email me at nimakhos@ufl.edu and I'll send them to you. So far the wood/ foam/ screws and all that cost about 100, and I am thinking the fiberglass/ resin and all that will be around 50-75, so it shouldnt go over 175-200 total.. assuming you have a jigsaw, circular saw, and powerdrill. This thing is sweet, and I am reinforcing the transom to be able to put a trolling motor also. Jessee has some sweet attachments on his, but he went a little overboard..AM/FM radio, VHF, Heater cushion, built in electric coffee maker with 48 ounce thermus, flat screen w xbox 360, digital duck identifier from 150 yards, etc... I am only going to put a spotlight mount, and removable spotlight on mine.

The hybrid plans, I believe are free.

A friend and I built a Lake Erie "pumpkin seed" layout boat and it is lethal, but must be towed...

Another option for you would be to build a Kara hummer..plans are reasonable and you can put a small motor on those as well.

Here are all the plans you need to build a boat. The 'Original Hybrid' plans are free. Plus they got some inexpensive ones if you want to buy and he'll send you some templates.
