Went out this morning and shot my limit. 5 ringers and a hybrid duck. At least that's what I think it is unless it's a immature mallard. Maybe one of you can chime in because I looked at some pictures of an immature malard, and that's what the head looks like in the pictures. IP: Logged |

Sounds like a great end to the season! A shot in the dark, but in the second pic there's enough white for maybe a wigeon / mallard ? IP: Logged |

Im starting to think it's a Black Duck X Mallard. The reason I say this is because I was talking to a guy who was hunting near me this morning, and he told me he shot a Black Duck there the other day. Here's a picture of one. IP: Logged |

It's a cross bred. There are a lot of them up here in Jax too. Find them in the ponds in housing areas, but I have shot them out on the ICW by the retirement areas. They decoy so good and it's kinda funny to watch the old folks get mad about shooting "their ducks" IP: Logged |

Well if they did it'd be an excellent time to educate them about the mallard and the mottled duck hybridization problem. Your saving a native species from dastardly bread ducks. IP: Logged |

That looks like the all to common Hamburgurler Duck known to frequent golf courses and shopping mall retention ponds. IP: Logged |

Brady - Could be a Mallard x Black. Doesn't look like the typical Mottled Hybrid at all, and coming from a Guy who kills lots of Mallards it's not an Immature Bird. I'd lean toward Park Duck x Mallard because they're more common, but it could be a Black x Mallard, and I'd save it if it was mine... Nice job by the way. IP: Logged |

Real classy. You talk about me hunting in 'your' spot? I haven't hunted in 'your' spot since I was last with you. And for your information, all those birds came from the west end of the lake. good try though. IP: Logged |

Watch your mouth, Sir. If you cant abide by the standards of the board , do not post. I do not care how mad you get. I DO NOT permit the kind of rants, cussing, etc etc etc that is tolerated just about everywhere else. Especially the threats. Ill give a man ONE chance to self correct, but if you wont do that, you are DONE James [This message has been edited by JMiller (edited 01-31-2010).] [This message has been edited by JMiller (edited 01-31-2010).] [This message has been edited by JMiller (edited 01-31-2010).] IP: Logged |
