heard a lot of rough stories with LEO's so i'd figure i'd post a nice one about the men in green. Hunted Orange and saw the the FWC airboat runnin just as i was finishing up to get to class. Even if i'm 100% legal i always get a couple butterflies. They pulled up, exchanged hellos, checked my stuff. there were a couple things that if they wanted to be a D!%# they could have (sticker on my FL numbers says its expired but i paid for two years and the sticker was for only one and i never got a new one and when i went to get one the lady at the tax collector said dont worry about it!). talked for a few minutes and drooled all over their airboat. really nice guys, doing their job. I think FWC officers on airboats dont write as many tickets haha cause every one ive seen was more than nice and i've caught a break before. But then again, if i got to ride around with a Lycoming 540 boat all day, i'd be in a good mood too! IP: Logged |

Almost without exception every single LEO that Ive run into has been very professional... I had to correct one about some regs once and he was in front of his supervisor, so he wasnt too happy but he still acted like a pro. Im all for 'em...in fact I wish, I really do wish, that they'd beef up enforcement around the state... and I also wish theyd create an enforce a minimum distance between blinds to keep clowns from setting up on top of you. Most I have had to deal with are real good guys and like to hunt and fish on their days off. Call it a smart way to scout. I did have one guy that checked everything in my boat looking for a second redfish. He watched us catch a bunch and "knew" we had more than the 2 in the cooler. He looked in tackle boxes, under seats, under engine cover, in gas tank, and never found another. Then he just walked away, I had to ask if we could leave. Some people. IP: Logged |

yeah i was chatting with a guy on the dike one time just talking about hunting and what not and the next day he was on the airboat in uniform, kinda funny. and about the redfish... the thing is though if he does that to 5 boats he'll probably end up writing a ticket. probably not trying to intentionally be a dick but people do that crap every day so if the LEO just plays the numbers game they'll bust those outside the law. If it was as easy as throwing all your extra and over/under reds in a different hatch andthe officer trusted everyone, every redneck would do it and get away with it. IP: Logged |
