Had a friend tell me they used to raise muscoveys on the farm as a boy and are good eating despite their massive ugliness. IP: Logged |

Those are tasty! Use to shoot them in Merritt Island off the Bananna River. In the evening they would of fly out of the residential canals and we would be waiting. Pissed off alot of the people and they would harass us all the time. Oh well. We were legal. YUM YUM. Wonder bread makes for some good feed! IP: Logged |

air rifles are definately legal on "small game" and to best of my knowlege waterfowl are considered "small game". call the fwc. you may be surprised of their answer. safe shooting. chris IP: Logged |

And since it's not a 'firearm' you might have access to some places that are on the fringes of the city limits. I'd probably stay away from Morton either way. IP: Logged |

Nope and nope. Air rifles are considered to be just that...rifles, and rifles, pistols, punt guns, snares, crossbows are specifically prohibited for taking migratory game birds. Those are the federal regs. You can use a shotgun (10 gauge or smaller), long/compound bow, or falconry. It also says dogs...heheh wonder if that'd be a "catch" dog/frisbee type, but I ain't going to argue that with "THE MAN" [This message has been edited by JMiller (edited 01-22-2010).] IP: Logged |

OK what about small game with a pellet gun ?? I looked through the rule book and even did a search , with out much luck on the subject : it only said that the state was looking at adding sling shots and air rifels as a weapon by definition , not sure what that meant . see what you can find and post it . but James is correct nothing but shotguns on migratory birds . Question ??????? does anyone on this site even own a 10 gauge ?? ------------------ IP: Logged |

Lawful means and methods Shotguns not larger than 10-gauge (shotguns capable of holding more than three shells must be plugged to a three-shell capacity with a one-piece filler that cannot be removed without disassembling the gun), long and compound bows and arrows, falconry, dogs, artificial decoys and manual or mouth-operated bird calls. Hunting is permitted in the open or from a blind or other type of concealment (except a sinkbox) or from a floating craft. "I copied this right off the FWC web site" Oh yes bow and arrows are most fun when hunting ducks , I saw Tred Barta shoot a Mallard out of the air on one of his shows ; But what about pellet guns for small game ? Squirl , rabbit , racoon ect. IP: Logged |

pellet gun for small game is ok thats why i thought it would be ok for waterfowl but as james stated it is considered a rifle and therefore illegal for waterfowl. i have seen plenty of squirel hunters using them in jennings forest and guanna. chris IP: Logged |

I have a 10ga. and got it for turkey hunting, but it is real fun to shoot big chrages of big pellets for divers in the late season. If you can get birds on the same flight path and get the lead down, it will pound them. I also want to chime in on pellet guns, they are not legal in Fl for hunting. Small game or otherwise. It has been discussed many times on the Florida Sportsman forums, in the "Ask the Law" section. Chris, if you see people in Jennings hunting with them, they are illegal. I will see if I can get the number of the exact law number. IP: Logged |

I have heard that as well , that pellet guns were off limits as far as hunting went target practice is about the only vise when it comes to the BB gun , pretty sad My Sheridan in 20 cal 5mm is very deadly and many rabbits as well as squirls have gone to the grave thanks to that gun . I put a pellet at 45 yards threw the head of a racoon , I got it when I was 11 years old and you could still use lead on Ducks back then , I believe you can still hunt small game in Louisiana with a pellet gun I saw an artical in "Louisiana Conservationist" about squirl hunting in st. Tamany Parish with pellet guns Pirouge ------------------ IP: Logged |

Some states they are legal. I used to shoot a buddy's Crossman 2200 Magnum. It used .22 pellets, and we killed birds, and rabbits with it easy. It was listed at moving 1000 fps, and that is not much slower than a regular .22 rifle. Look at some of the stuff Gamo is putting out. There I a few that I want to go play with. IP: Logged |
